What is a Cima hospitalist?

CIMA is committed to caring for patients’ needs throughout their hospitalization by using our hospitalists. Our hospitalists specialize in internal medicine or family practice and are members or affiliates of CIMA. What is a Hospitalist and do I need one? Hospitalists are doctors who oversee patients’ care while they are in the hospital.

How do I request medication refills from Cima?

Effective 7/1/2021 CIMA will require patients to request medication refills at the time of their appointment. We will no longer process routine medication refill requests by phone, portal, or pharmacy fax request at no charge.

Because the hospital is one of their primary sites of practice they are more familiar with the hospital system and its function. The hospitalist will communicate with your primary care physician while he/she manages your care during your hospital stay.

Why are primary care physicians unable to make hospital visits?

Many primary care physicians are unable to make hospital visits to care for their individual patients because of time and economic constraints. Many primary care physicians have hospitalists cover for them. This has proven to be a more efficient method for providing quality care.
