How do I log in to the patient portal?

Log onto the Patient Portal by accessing it through the Student Health Center Homepage. Your SHSU student username and password will be your log on credentials. Starting January 4, 2021, the SHSU Student Health Center will be handling all on-campus COVID testing.

How do I get hired as a student at SHSU?

Go to BEARKATS GET HIRED All students are encouraged to be advised to assure that they are taking classes relevant to their individual degrees. There are four categories of students who must be advised: Students with no SHSU GPA (all new freshmen and transfer students). Students who have below a 2.5 overall GPA.

About the Texas State Law for Bacterial Meningitis

Effective January 1, 2014 Texas state law ( Senate Bill 62) requires that on the first day of class at an institution of higher education in Texas, Sam Houston State University, students must provide proof of immunization OR an accepted waiver for bacterial meningitis.

Payment Plan Info

Payment plans enable you to pay 5 installments throughout the fall & spring semesters, instead of all at once. Upon enrolling, a non-refundable payment plan enrollment fee of $30 will be added to your account.

Emergency Tuition & Fees Loan (ETFL)

The ETFL defers your first 10% installment on the Payment Plan for up to 90 days.

What is Campus Connect?

Campus Connect is designed to help students access their campus resources and optimize their student experience. Campus Connect provides students the opportunity to schedule appointments with many resources on campus, such as academic advising, academic support programs, and other resources, such as the Student Money Management Center.

Can you spend a semester at SHSU?

Through this academic program, SHSU students can spend a semester or full year studying away at another member campus, and continue to make progress toward their SHSU degree. After a semester or year on exchange, students return to SHSU to complete their remaining degree requirements and graduate on time.

Family Medicine

Dr. Boudreaux is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1986. Hook’em! In 1996, he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University Of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas College Of Osteopathic Medicine.

Internal Medicine

Dr. Candace Walkley is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine (IM) and Pediatrics in the Department of Primary Care at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from University of Texas at Arlington and her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Pediatric Medicine

Dr. Kemi Olaiya joined Sam Houston State University in September 2020 and is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Sports Medicine

Dr. Townes “Tucker” Leigh, Jr serves as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and a team physician for SHSU athletics.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Sharon Gustowski, DO, MPH is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). She graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center- Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and has 15 years of experience as a physician and educator.
