The Department of Neurology is made up of over 17 centers, programs, and services. For ease of understanding, all of these areas are housed under the patient-centered Brain Health Center.

When was the Department of Neurology established?

The Department of Neurology was established in 1958 and continued to expand formal neurological training opportunities for providing neurologic care. As neurology's importance and influence increased within the medical field, its status was elevated from a division within the Department of Medicine to an independent department in 1976.

What is the Emory Healthy Brain Study?

The Emory Healthy Brain Study is a sub-study of the Emory Healthy Aging Study. To join the Emory Healthy Brain Study, you must first join the Emory Healthy Aging Study.

How long does it take to visit Emory Brain Health Center?

Selected participants will visit the Emory Brain Health Center once every two years to complete a series of tests, and to allow us to collect important biological samples. The visit typically takes approximately six to seven hours with lunch provided. Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and how long a participant chooses to continue with the study is up to them. As a selected participant, you will also be compensated for your time.
