After that visit, you will be scheduled for: A nutrition assessment. A psychological evaluation.

Do you need to attend a support group after bariatric surgery?

Additional medical tests, as determined by the surgeon. You will need to attend a support group. People who have undergone bariatric surgery find it easier to make the necessary lifestyle adjustments when they have the opportunity to meet and talk with other people going through the same experience.

WHAT IS MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS?

Medical weight loss is a plan designed and supervised by healthcare professionals, emphasizing diet, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle.

EVALUATION

Patients will have an initial assessment by the physician assistant including history and physical exam, laboratory work-up, and a body composition evaluation. The body composition evaluation breaks down the body into percentage of fat, protein, minerals, bone, body water and muscle.

SUPPORT

Patients will be provided with nutrition support and education. Registered dietitians will be available as needed to monitor progress, adjust the weight loss plan and celebrate incremental successes along the way.

TREATMENT PLAN

Patients will receive an individualized diet plan, fitness goals, and prescription weight loss medications when medically necessary. Diet plans and medications will be adjusted as needed and appropriate.

Who is the pre-operative surgery coordinator?

Pre-Operative Surgery Scheduling Coordinator#N#Carrie Jo is the pre-operative surgery scheduling coordinator & certified BSCR. She has been a GCH team member for 12 years and is very knowledgeable in most areas of the hospital. She joined the bariatric team and feels a great sense of accomplishment helping finalize this process. From scheduling pre-operative testing to scheduling your surgeon consultation, she is very eager to walk each and every bariatric patient throughout all the steps necessary. She is excited to help each and every patient to the best of her abilities.

Is Dr. Montgomery board certified?

Dr. Montgomery is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and specializes in Fellowship-trained breast surgical oncology, Fellowship-trained complex surgical oncology (colorectal, hepatic, soft tissue), as well as general surgery, Robotic general surgery, and advanced Laparoscopic surgery.
